This is Sarah's love for CNN

I've decided that CNN is a necessary component of my life. Really, it's become a sine qua non, at least during break. It makes me feel like, if I'm not at school and actively learning, I can at least be up to date on current issues. And it's just so fun to see them crucifying [Senate Majority Leader]Trent Lott on live television, metaphorically speaking, of course.

And I got to witness our President being sneaky this morning. He signed an executive order that makes faith based groups eligible for federal aide. So, not only are they now tax-exempt, they can get federal grant money. Bush said that it would "end discrimination" which is all well and good, except it doesn't. It still allows these groups to continue discriminatory hiering practices against people of other religions (or no religion) and other groups, especially gays and lesbians. Not to mention that it violates the hell out of that whole separation of church and state thing.

His remarks were also rife with historical inaccuracies and right-wing mythful thinking. For the record: Faith-based groups, with the notable exception of the Quakers, did NOT lead the crusade against slavery. Most abolishionists were agnostics or atheists or acting in spite of the established churches' love of the status quo.

Not that I'm bitter or anything.
